THE SIZE:

THE ARTIST:
Carrie Helmkamp - Charleston, SC
Through layered textural effects and pops of color, Carrie’s hand-built, and sometimes wheelthrown and altered ceramic sculptures invite you to explore her quirky and whimsical world. The study of faces and portraits has led Carrie to the development of Kruffles, a line of monster pottery and figures that she creates to identify with the world around her. The textures, along with layers of oxide stains and glazes, give her sculpture a crude, yet playful expression.
Carrie has been involved in the art world, helping with exhibition design and installation in museums, galleries and private homes for many years. Making Kruffles is a fun and rewarding experience that helps her escape from life and not take it too seriously.
